A fast-growing law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate to manage a wide range of commercial litigation matters, including significant involvement in MCA-related cases. This is a new role with long-term growth potential — including the opportunity to eventually manage junior staff. You will take ownership of contested litigation, represent the company in various legal forums, and support the manager in running the litigation side of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a docket of commercial and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Handle contested litigation, including drafting and arguing motions, pleadings, and briefs in state and federal courts.
- Appear in court, arbitrations, mediations, and hearings as needed.
- Oversee post-judgment enforcement actions (garnishments, levies, turnovers, etc.).
- Work on both MCA-related litigation and general commercial litigation daily.
- Assist the manager in running the litigation operations of the business.
- Coordinate and supervise outside counsel where appropriate.
- Advise internal teams on litigation strategy, risk, and compliance.
- Stay current on legal developments relating to collections, commercial finance, MCA, and creditor’s rights.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission in NY required.
- 2–5 years of litigation experience (commercial litigation, collections, creditor’s rights, or MCA experience highly preferred).
- Strong oral and written advocacy skills; courtroom experience required.
- Ability to manage multiple active cases in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with legal research platforms and litigation/case management software.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small, highly productive team.
Hours: 9 am - 5 :15 pm
